Forsyth County Championship Meet - Saturday February 20th
The Forsyth County Championship meet is this Saturday January 20th and we wanted to send out some information beforehand! There is A LOT of information, so please read through everything and check with your athlete for updates as the coaches communicate with them directly!
VOLUNTEERS - Each team needs to provide 3 volunteers for EACH shift (prelims and finals). If you would like the best seat in the house to watch your swimmer, please sign up on the volunteer sign up genius.
WARM-UPS - Denmark has been assigned warm-ups at 7:30AM. All swimmers should arrive by 7:00AM and be prepared to be in the water on time. Breakfast will be available for the team after warmups are done.
MEET TIMELINE - Swimmers arrive by 7:00AM. Warm-ups begin at 7:30AM. Prelims will begin at 9:00AM. Senior Celebration will begin immediately following prelims. Diving warmups will begin immediately following senior celebration, estimated to be 12:30p, with competition estimated to begin at 1:30pm. Warmups for finals are estimated to begin at 5:00pm and competition at 5:30pm.
Please remember that this will be a large meet with 8 Forsyth County teams participating, so please pack your patience! Heat Sheets will NOT be sold for this meet and will be available in meet mobile. Meet mobile can be downloaded in the app store for either a $6 yearly subscription, or a small fee for one month use.
NEW THIS YEAR!!! ALL 500 free entries AND 400 free relays will be swum in finals. So if you have a swimmer who will be swimming the 500 free and/or a 400 free relay at the meet, they WILL be swimming in finals!
This is a championship meet format, so prelims will be circle-seeded - which means that not all heats will be seeded from slowest to fastest as they usually are. This is important to know if you don't have access to Meet Mobile since your swimmer may not be in the heat you would normally expect them to be in! Here is an explanation of circle seeding if you are not familiar with it.
FOOD - Team snacks will be available for the athletes during the meet. This is a LONG day, so it would be wise to bring a water bottle and some of their own snacks as well. Concessions will also be available outside of the spectator area.
Breakfast will be provided for the swimmers after warmups (Chick-fil-A). The coaches expect ALL athletes to remain at the pool for the ENTIRE meet (prelims, senior recognition, diving, and finals), so this year we will also offer sandwich platters for the swimmers during the diving portion of the meet so they don't have to leave between prelims and finals.
SENIOR CELEBRATION - We will be honoring 14 seniors this year as part of the county meet. If you are a senior parent, please plan on being ready by 11:00a since we were not provided an estimated time. Dress warmly, as we will have a reception for seniors and their parents outside on the leisure pool deck! If you don't have a senior, we encourage you to watch from the stands and support them!
DIVING - Divers should arrive at the pool no later than 11:00a, to either participate in or watch senior recognition. Diving warmups will begin immediately following the senior celebration, estimated to be 12:30p. Lunch will be provided for divers.
FINALS - Warmups for finals are estimated to begin at 5:00pm and the meet to begin at 5:30pm. ALL athletes are expected to remain at the pool between prelims and finals. And remember - if your athlete is swimming at 500 free and/or the 400 free relay, they are automatically swimming in finals! Awards for top three finishers will be given out after each event (ie: men's and women's 200 medley relay).
We think this covers just about all of it, but will send out any updates or new information if needed. Thank you in advance to all of those who signed up to time! And a big thank you to our senior celebration committee and other volunteers who have worked hard this year behind the scenes to make sure our athletes have a great season!
Go Danes!
